About SuperCare Shellharbour
How does SuperCare Shellharbour work for dental costs?
SuperCare is not a lender or an instalment plan, even though the clinic lists it with its payment options. It helps you apply to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to release some of your super early on compassionate grounds. The ATO assesses and decides every application, not SuperCare and not the clinic.
The treatment must be medically necessary, for example to treat acute or chronic pain, and you must have no other way to pay. SuperCare says cosmetic treatment does not qualify. Registered practitioners must confirm the treatment is necessary. SuperCare says not to start treatment until you have the ATO approval letter.
Early release is your own super, so you do not repay it. But you will have less super for retirement, and tax may apply. This is general information, not advice about your own super. Ask your super fund or a licensed financial adviser what it means for you. The clinic can help you with the application.
